Trans-it/orb_it Joao Rafael
Joao Rafael's "Trans-it/orb_it" was undoubtedly one of the most challenging pieces we asked Tim to try.
It's the sort of piece that by its very nature a performer can only ever make an approximation at. The speed of notes and the
difficulty of the leaps involved are virtually impossible to reproduce 100% accurately. As with works by composer such as Ferneyhough,
the sense of struggle needed to produce the music may be part of the intended effect.
Tim made a valliant attempt at the first two lines, but we did not have enough time to do the whole extract justice.
The extract performed is shown below, at written (transposed) pitch.
