Philip W Oxtoby - Composer

Recent works include his fourth Symphony, a short piece for cello and piano entitled 'Elegia' and an orchestral Passacaglia based on the John Donne poem 'Shadows'. Current projects include a work for choir and orchestra on Rosetti's "Remember Me'.

Stylistically, the music uses a late 20th C tonal style and - due to a passion for Bach - the writing is markedly linear. Later works exhibit the occasional use of minimalism, for example the concerto for soprano saxophone and strings.
