STRING QUARTET SMACKDOWN

 STRING QUARTET SMACKDOWN
Summary:String quartet competition
Deadline: 01 December 2019
Date Posted: 13 November 2019
Details: Golden Hornet's String Quartet Smackdown is a bracketed, NCAA basketball style tournament competition which brings original string quartet compositions head-to-head in front of a live, participatory audience. All sixteen finalists receive a professional studio recording of their work. One finalist is determined the champion by the voting audience, and wins a cash prize.

Composers of any age, experience level, and background are welcome to submit. There are no geographic constraints - we welcome submissions from around the world. Beyond instrumentation -- compositions must be written for a traditional string quartet -- there are no style constraints. In particular, we encourage submissions from individuals who identify with historically marginalized and/or underrepresented demographics, especially within the field of classical music.

There is no cost to enter or participate. Simply complete this form by DECEMBER 1, 2019 @ Midnight (Central Standard Time). Any submissions received after this deadline will NOT be considered.

*** We strongly encourage you to review the "Frequently Asked Questions" before preparing your submission or contacting us. They can be found at www.goldenhornet.org/smackdown-faq ***

We look forward to receiving your submission - good luck!
