Summary:Opportunity for Wales-based composers
Deadline: 16 November 2018
Date Posted: 08 November 2018
Details: Mark Bowden, Tansy Davies, Graham Fitkin and Errollyn Wallen will be paired up with four Wales-based composers in a new Tŷ Cerdd project.

CoDI MENTORS is the latest strand of CoDI, Tŷ Cerdd’s composer development initiative, which is working to develop a community of Welsh and Wales-based composers through creative opportunities, training, events and online activity.

The CoDI MENTORS pairings will support Wales-based composers with an outside-eye on their creative practice. The four mentor composers are based outside Wales – although Bowden is Welsh, and all have worked on substantial creative projects in Wales – and a clear aim of the scheme is to support the mentees to make connections beyond Wales, and to view their practices in the context of international composition and performance.

Tŷ Cerdd’s director, Deborah Keyser, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Wales-based composers, and we’re delighted that these four artists of international standing are working with us on the project. Our new CoDI initiative has received a great amount of interest from composers; Wales-based artists consistently express the need for opportunities to develop their practice, as well as the aspiration to make connections beyond Wales. We hope this pilot of CoDI MENTORS will help provide a pathway. ”

CoDI is supported by funds from Arts Council of Wales and from PRS Foundation, with whom Tŷ Cerdd is one of a UK-national network of Talent Development Partners.

Using the official application form, you will be asked to outline the areas of practice you would like to cover with your mentor and state what you hope to achieve through your participation in the scheme.

You will also be required to supply a CV and links to two sound files of your compositions.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 10am, Friday 16 November
