Details: Anima Vox is excited to announce the Latino Voices recording project and call for scores! This project will feature the voices of Latino poets and folk stories in newly composed music for soprano and flute duo and contribute to the dissemination of Latino art and culture. Chosen works will be professionally recorded and produced as well as given live performances. The top four compositions will also receive an honorarium. Guidelines for submissions and application procedures are below.

Anima Vox is an innovative flute and soprano duo specializing in seamless concert experiences and free improvisation. Flutist Tadeu Coelho and soprano Carole Ott blend their voices in ways that are simultaneously striking and ethereal. Always striving to diversify the chamber music field, the duo’s repertoire ranges from Gregorian Chant to free improvisation and everything in between. Guidelines:
1. Instrumentation: Pieces must be for flute (possible doubling on piccolo, alto or bass flute) and soprano. Compositions may include computer electronics, small percussion instruments played by the performers, multimedia elements, free improvisation, or other non-traditional ideas. 2. Compositions must be based on texts written by Latino poets (of any generation), explore folklore of Latino countries, or be an original arrangement of a Latino folk song.
3. Text for the works must be in the public domain or be given broad rights to Anima Vox to perform, record, arrange and advertise.
4. Compositions should be a maximum of 15 minutes. Multi-movement works will also be considered.
5. The work must not have been performed, published or recorded (exception: non-public performances in a university context).

Deadline:
• Submissions via the google form below are due by 5:00 pm on Monday, April 15th, 2018.

Honoraria:
Four compositions will be selected for an honorarium. The composers of the selected works will receive:
• at least one public performance of the work
• a professionally produced CD recording of the work
• a $250 honorarium
• advertisement on the Anima Vox webpage
• possible future performances
• other works might be selected for the recording project without honorarium

Announcement:
• Results will be announced on Cinco de Mayo, 2018 via email and the Anima Vox website.
