CALL FOR COMPOSERS, CHOREGRAPHERS, MUSICIANS AND DANCERS TO TAKE PART IN A UNIQUE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE

Yorke Dance Project is looking for choreographers, composers, dancers and musicians to take part in this year’s Cohan Collective, a two-week intensive residency directed by Robert Cohan and Eleanor Alberga with mentorship by Kim Brandstrup and Gary Carpenter held at Middlesex University.

The Cohan Collective is aimed at artists at an early stage in their career who want to develop their creative skills and gain valuable insight into the process of collaboration. The directors are looking for composers and choreographers who are willing to go beyond what they know, try new ways of approaching their work, are keen to be challenged and have a desire to develop their artistry.

Yorke Dance Project is looking for four composers, four choreographers, four musicians, twelve professional dancers and two graduates to take part in this two- week residency.

All participants will take part in daily class. Tasks will be given by the directors to the composers and choreographers to respond to and the mentors will guide the artists through the creative process. Dancers and musicians will be required to work creatively with the choreographers and composers. There will be talks by guest speakers during the residency to offer additional insights into the creative process and/or collaboration. The emphasis throughout is on the process and participants’ learning, not on the end result.

The Cohan Collective is a unique opportunity for professional development with highly acclaimed mentors and directors who can share their knowledge and nurture your talent.
