Versipel New Music, a presenting organization for cutting-edge contemporary music concerts in the New Orleans area, announces a call for scores for solo/chamber works to be included in the upcoming concert season. Pieces selected for performance will be programmed on one of three different concerts that are part of Versipel New Music’s 2014 – 2015 concert season. Composers may submit one piece of any length and any aesthetic direction, for any combination of 1 – 6 performers with or without electronics (live electronics or fixed media) (see below for details regarding specific instrumentation). Scores using graphic notation, improvisation, and/or open instrumentation are welcome. Scores by Louisiana-based composers will be given special consideration for our December concert featuring works by Louisiana composers. Guidelines: Works must be solo or chamber music compositions (1 – 6 performers). Any combination of the following (one player per instrument): Flute (+ Alto Flute) Clarinet (+ Bass Clarinet) Violin Viola Cello Piano Trumpet Trombone Guitar (Classical or Electric) Percussion Up to two additional instruments (not listed above) may be included with this group Works using live or fixed-media electronics are welcome Works for two-channel fixed media digital audio are also welcome All application materials must be received by September 5th, 2014. There is no fee to submit, however there is a suggested donation of ten dollars ($10) per submission payable online (see below for details) There is no age limit Anonymous scores and recordings only Limit one entry per composer Incomplete entries will not be considered To apply, please submit the following files in a single shared folder (labeled with the title of the composition), through Dropbox (www.dropbox.com), to philip@versipel.org (details on how to use Dropbox on provided on their website): PDF of the score. Composer’s name must not appear anywhere on the score. PDF files must be labeled by the name of the composition only (i.e. CompositionTitle.pdf). The name of the composer must not appear in the file name. PDF information sheet containing the following: Composer’s name Mailing address E-mail address Title of composition Year of composition Duration of composition Instrumentation PDF Information sheet must be labeled by the name of the composition followed by the word “INFO” (i.e. CompositionTitleINFO.pdf). The name of the composer must not appear in the file name. MP3 recording of composition (if available) may be included. MP3 files must be labeled by the name of the composition only (i.e. CompositionTitle.mp3). The name of the composer must not appear in the file name. PLEASE NOTE: When sharing your folder through Dropbox, please indicate in the message box if you are Louisiana-based composer. Though your score and materials will remain anonymous, this information will allow us to make programming decisions for the concert featuring Louisiana composers.
