Wigmore Hall embraces the new
Director of Wigmore Hall Director John Gilhooly has announced a bold new scheme to put new music at the heart of Wigmore Hall programming. Each season will focus on several living composers (for example in 2008/9 the then 100-year old Elliot Carter and the young German composer Jörg Widmann), but above and beyond that will be an exciting new commission scheme:“From 2009 the Hall will present a new series of concerts entitled Wigmore Commissions. The series will start with annual commissions across all chamber music genres and by 2012 our ambition is to commission more than 10 new works each season. " said Gilhooly
