Gustavo Dudamel to succeed Salonen

26 year old Venezualan conductor Gustavo Dudamel has been appointed Music Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra from the beginning of the 2008-09 season. Dudamel succeeds Esa-Pekka Salonen who steps down after a highly successful 17 year tenure with the orchestra which, according to New Yorker writer Alex Ross said "has transformed the American orchestra business".
