Ades Given Carnegie Hall Residency

British composer Thomas Ades has been appointed to The Richard and Barbara Debs Composer’s Chair at Carnegie Hall. Ades will hold the position for the 2007-8 season that will see a number of performances of the young composers work including the US premiere of Tevot (a work commissioned by Carnegie Hall and the Berliner Philharmoniker).

As part of the position Ades make his Carnegie Hall piano recital debut and conduct the Birmingham Contamporary Music Group in performances if his own and Gerald Barry's music.

Ades can add this position to a number of other significant roles including director of the Aldeburgh Music Festival in Snape, England. During March 2007 the Tempest will also receive its second run of performances by London's Royal Opera House.
