Profile
Chris’s music has been performed in the UK, Europe and North America, at the Presteigne Festival, the Hertfordshire Chamber Music Series, the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham and St John’s, Smith Square in London.
Performers of Chris’s work include the Equinox Saxophone Ensemble, the Glendower Duo (Hannah Morgan, clarinet and Thomas Besnard, piano), baritone Greg Hallam, pianists Robert Thompson and Simon Callaghan, saxophonist Amy Dickson, the Swansea Bach Choir and the London Youth Choir.
Chris studied composition at the Universities of Nottingham (with Nicholas Sackman) and Sheffield (with George Nicholson), after which he studied privately for a time with Peter Fribbins. Major works completed recently include the String Quartet and Piano Trio, Inventions for Solo Soprano Saxophone, Inventions for Cello Duo, and settings of the war poet Edward Thomas.
Forthcoming projects include a children’s ballet, The Tale of Thumbelina, to be permiered in May. Chris is also launching a project to record his piano music, which will be released on his own label later this year.
