Profile Chris Brammeld read music at the University of Nottingham from 2001-4. He trained as a clarinettist and pianist, and started to compose at an early age.

His compositions include many instrumental and vocal works for the concert hall and theatre; his chamber music includes a Sonatina for clarinet and piano and ‘Micro-Suite’ for saxophone quartet. The Concert Overture for wind orchestra was premiered at the Adrian Boult Hall, Birmingham Conservatoire. Chris has written a collection of over 20 miniatures and preludes for piano, and a series Shakespeare settings for voice and piano. His educational work includes a series of workbooks for grade 1 woodwind students, scale books and Ten Boogie-Woogie Studies for Piano.

Chris is also a qualified teacher, and is at present undertaking an MMus degree at the University of Sheffield, combining studies in composition with research in education. Current composition projects include a string quartet.
