Profile Jonathan Palmer studied composition with Andrew Byrne at Reading University in the late 1960s, and later under Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. Having been a Director of Music for 35 years in various schools he decided to retire in 2007 in order to concentrate on his composition. In December 2014 he was awarded his PhD in Composition at the University of Bristol. He is also known as a conductor, double bass teacher and performer.
