“a liberating, totally absorbing creation which sweeps the listener towards a different world”
(Sir Nicholas Kenyon on The Protecting Veil)
A celebration of the life of revered composer John Tavener with one of his most well known works. The Protecting Veil is a sublime meditation inspired by the Orthodox Feasts commemorating the life of the Virgin Mary, ending with her tears. Lutosławski’s searing Lachrimosa precedes Szymanowski’s beautiful Stabat Mater.
