Stephan David Hewitt of The Dream Brothers, presented by The Whitman Project (www.whitmanproject.org) and American Opera Projects

Brooklyn, NY –On May 28th, 2010, in honor of the 150th anniversary of Walt Whitman's Calamus
volume from his Leaves of Grass, Greg Trupiano and The Whitman Project (www.whitmanproject.org), in conjunction
with American Opera Projects, presents singer/songwriter Stephan David Hewitt, in the New York Premiere of Full of Life
Now: (Walt Whitman’s) Songs of Liberation, a concert of original song settings from Walt Whitman’s still-radical lyrics
championing love, sex, body, and Soul. Accompanying himself on the piano at ART-NY's Brooklyn performance space,
Hewitt celebrates the poet’s visionary call to liberate passion from prejudice and fear—and to recognize that Body and Soul
are one. Hewitt and songwriting partner, Gary Glickman, describe their music as "a classical, folk, and pop fusion, virile and
sweet and thrilling, everything that Whitman was.” The duo’s New York premiere coincides with the release of their new
CD album, “Full of Life Now: Love Songs of Walt Whitman,” as well as the 150th anniversary of the publication of Calamus,
the third edition of Leaves of Grass. Hewitt will also be the featured performer for the Third Annual International Walt
Whitman Symposium in Macerata Italy, June 14th, 2010.
