The concert presents an exciting mixture of old and new, familiar and unfamiliar. The programme includes the world premiere of Robert Hugill's The Woodward Scale, which sets sets Antony Woodward's amusing modern day re-write of the Beaufort Wind Scale used to estimate wind strengths. The original text to The Woodward Scale appeared in Country Life in 2002. Hugill's piece will be accompanied by Aulis Sallinen's musical humoresque The Beaufort Scale which sets the original 18th century text of the Beaufort Wind Scale.
