_ Celebrated Irish composer Kevin Volans and acclaimed German artist Jürgen Partenheimer discuss their ground-breaking new collaboration.
_ BCMG gives the first full live performance of Kevin Volans’ The Partenheimer Project.
From 2 April – 18 May Ikon Gallery presents Jürgen Partenheimer’s first solo UK exhibition, comprising new and recent paintings, works on paper and sculpture. In response to Partenheimer’s work, Kevin Volans has written The Partenheimer Project – a 45-minute piece for three spatially arranged ensembles, recorded as an installation for the duration of the exhibition, and played live at Ikon by BCMG on 20 April.
On Sat 3 May this special BCMG Insight event invites you to hear Kevin Volans and Jürgen Partenheimer in conversation with Ikon Director Jonathan Watkins and BCMG Artistic Director Stephen Newbould, followed by a performance of The Partenheimer Project with 12 BCMG players spatially arranged around the hall, immersing the audience in the gently swirling sounds of Volans’ music.
This 2-hour long event includes an interval, and refreshments can be purchased from the CBSO Centre bar.
