Description
Four saxophones, three clarinets and one piano are the actors in a play without words. The musical textures seeks to establish and develop the characters of each instrument in in a way that emulates an operatic style of writing, moving between recitative, lyrical arioso and dialogue. The cast of reeds takes turns in the limelight, sometimes basking in it, sometimes sharing it, with a few “blink and you've missed it” cameos and one or two dicy quick changes. Although it is a work of 'fiction', the piece does draw elements of its inspiration from the personalities of its performers and is dedicated to Victoria and Jeffery.
