Description
This lively dance in duple meter hearkens back to a simpler perhaps statelier time. The melodies in Gabriel's Gavotte are reminiscent of the post-baroque / pre-classical gallant style, but less courtly and more direct and personal. Quite befitting, as I am dedicating this music to little Gabriel, my second child and first son!
Practically speaking, this music is written in the recorder/flute friendly key G Major and employs a comfortable range and fingerings. As a recital piece, Gabriel's Gavotte would be well suited as a recital opener or small segment in a Canadiana programme.
