Description
Ontario Overture is the first installment in a suite dedicated to 'my home and native land', Canada! This piece is comprised of two sections linked together via two subsidiary episodes.
The first is open voiced and free-spirited in character and reminds me of the wide open spaces of 'Northern Country', Ontario. The second section is a very fast and frenetic movement that could easily be the soundtrack to any typical busy downtown Toronto shopping scene.
Technically, the music moves along at a good clip and sits very nicely under the fingers. The overall texture is full and the sonority clear and therefore Ontario Overture will stand up well in a variety of performance settings, including the concert or recital hall.
