Tape Piece - Andy Ingamells and Maya Verlaak

Description
Tape Piece is a duet. Each performer takes a roll of household tape and simultaneously wraps the tape around both of their bodies. When the tape has all been used, they pause to catch their breath, then try to break free from the tape. It is in three parts:
1. Masking tape
2. Sellotape
3. Duct tape

The full performance lasts for 8 minutes.

The title Tape Piece suggests 20th Century avant-garde electronic music, produced in the depths of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. But this piece playfully recasts the complex rhythms and compelling sounds of electronic music by purely physical means, as two people use ordinary household tape to create an ever-changing choreographic musical work that fully integrates movement and sound-production.
