Giselle Eastman is a Venezuelan-American composer born in Arlington, Virginia. Giselle studied at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana under Greek Composer Dinos Constantinides (1929-) as well as at Mills College in Oakland, California under composers Maggi Payne (1945-) and Roscoe Mitchell (1940-). Giselle is a clarinetist and frequently performs her own works, as well as participating in collaborative art/music events globally. Giselle was awarded 2nd place in the 2009-2010 MTNA National Young Artist Composition competition for her serial piece, String Quartet No.1. Giselle has expressed regret about submitting the piece to the competition with the third movement omitted. A recording of the piece in its entirety exists online.
