Manchester-born composer and saxophonist, Adam Melvin studied music at Queen's University, Belfast and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London and is currently completing a PhD in composition at the Royal Academy of Music. His work has been performed throughout the U.K. and Ireland, mainland Europe and the United States. Much of his recent work has involved collaborations with the visual arts and site-specific pieces - he has a long running creative partnership with his brother, video artist and Nationwide Mercury Art Prize winner, Mark Melvin. Recent commissions include pieces for the Cheltenham Festival, London jazz festival and WASTE festival (Czech Republic). He is an SPNM shortlisted composer and teaches at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
