Born in Penzance, Cornwall, in 1977, Simon Milton is rapidly establishing his reputation as a composer. He graduated from the Welsh College of Music and Drama, obtaining a BA (Hons), and studied composition with John Pickard. His clarinet tutors included Mark van de Wiel of the London Sinfonietta and the Philharmonia orchestra, and Robert Plane of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
In 1999 Simon won the 'Cornish Young Composers Competition', which was adjudicated by John Harle, Humphrey Burton and Graham Fitkin. He has since received commissions from bands, orchestras, and soloists..
Simon works extensively in Arts Education, in projects which involve students over a wide range of experience from primary level students to adult amateur singers He is also Associate Composer with the Orchestra of Midsummer Opera and plays with them regularly.
His 'Fanfare for Verdi Brass' was first performed In February 2006 by the Orchestra and Chorus of Midsummer Opera conducted by David Roblou. The programme included the Verdi Requiem.
