Hello, Eisler's first name is spelled, Hanns - with TWO n's!!! Hanns Eisler is one of the most renowned composers whose music was banned by the Nazis as 'entartete Musik' or 'degenrate music'. He is well known for many of his art songs and with his collaborations with Berthold Brecht. So, doubly, as both a socialist and as a Jew who was writing many anti-fascist works he was not the most popular with the SS! Born in Germany in 1898, he eventually emigrated in the 30's to the US, like so many other intellectuals, tried his hand at Hollywood writing. He died in 1962.
