Closes: 31st October 2019 Location: West Midlands Type: Part time (volunteer) Salary: Unpaid Contact: Karen ladybirdsmusical@gmail.com Description Set in Birmingham, Ladybirds is a powerful and uplifting musical about female friendship, identity and creative expression. A Midlands based composer / songwriter is needed to collaborate with the book writer of Ladybirds, to create a fierce score which should draw on rock / pop influences. The right collaborator, will need to embrace feminism and be interested in the musical’s other themes which include LGBTQ+ rights, gender, domestic abuse and modern masculinity. An understanding of musical theatre would be useful but is not essential. The book and some initial lyrics have been developed with support and mentoring from a variety of theatre industry professionals and a producer is on board ready to workshop and showcase the piece. As this is a collaboration opportunity, there is no fee or expenses available although once a partnership has been established, a Collaboration Agreement will be drawn up to agree how rights, fees and royalties will be divided between the writer and the composer.
