Details: OVERVIEW

Composers of any age or nationality are invited to submit scores for one or both of ICEBERG's partner ensembles, Hypercube (http://www.hypercubemusic.org/) and Unheard-of (https://www.unheard-ofproject.com/ensemble). Up to four winning composers (at least one for each ensemble) will be selected to have their works performed as part of our 2019-20 season at Tenri Cultural Institute in New York City. There are no restrictions on the works submitted – pieces may have been previously performed, recorded, and/or awarded. In keeping with ICEBERG's mission of promoting stylistic diversity, composers are encouraged to submit their music regardless of compositional style – anything from pop songs to works of new complexity are welcome, and will be considered equally.

The winning work(s) for Hypercube will be performed February 15, 2020. The winning work(s) for Unheard-of will be performed April 10, 2020. These performances will take place at Tenri Cultural Institute in New York City.

DURATION GUIDELINES

Submitted pieces may be no longer than 12 minutes in duration. There is no minimum duration.

INSTRUMENTATION GUIDELINES

Composers may submit:

A) One (1) score for performance by Hypercube

B) One (1) score for performance by Unheard-of

Or,

C) Two (2) scores, one suitable for each ensemble.

INSTRUMENTATION (Hypercube)

Saxophone (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bari - one player)
Guitar (Acoustic, Electric - one player)
Piano
Percussion

(Subsets of this ensemble will be considered. Works involving electronics will be considered.)

INSTRUMENTATION (Unheard-of)

Violin
Cello
Clarinet (doubling bass clarinet)
Piano

(Subsets of this instrumentation will be considered. Works which involve electronics will be considered).

HOW TO SUBMIT

1. Complete the submission form below. Please make sure that all links to scores/audio remain active until January 15, 2020.
2. Pay the $8 (one score) or $15 (two scores) submission fee by the appropriate PayPal button. Submissions will not be considered unless the fee is paid.

The winning compositions will be selected by a panel which includes ICEBERG composers and performers from our partner ensembles. Winners will be notified by email before January 1, 2020. Winning composers must be prepared to promptly supply parts and other performance materials for their selected compositions. Composers are not required to attend the performance (although we hope they will). ICEBERG New Music can not provide any financial assistance for travel expenses.
