Details: The Chapter of St Paul’s Cathedral invites composers to submit a brand new choral work for unaccompanied SATB choir to mark either the Baptism of Christ or the Wedding at Cana.

SINGLE PRIZE £1,000 and a première performance by the Choir of St Paul’s Cathedral

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
1. Entrants are required to submit a setting of a text associated with the Baptism of Christ or the Wedding at Cana. Possible suggestions are included below and you may use these (or portions of these) at your discretion. Composers may also choose their own words but must have permission for the use of any copyright text.
2. The work should be scored for SATB choir without accompaniment. Divisi is not permitted.
3. The work should not last more than four minutes based on a metronome mark given at the head of score.
4. The work should be written with the Choir of St Paul‟s Cathedral in mind, and must be appropriate to performance within the liturgy.
5. Scores must be typeset and performance-ready.
6. The competition is open to composers of any age.

APPLICATIONS
1. Applications should be sent by post to William Fox, Sub-Organist, 5b Amen Court, London EC4M 7BU.
2. Scores must not include the name of the composer or any distinguishing marks thereof. The panel will judge the pieces submitted solely on artistic merit and without prejudice.
3. The deadline for submissions is 8th October 2019. Please send five copies of the score, together with a completed application form.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. The work must be original and contain a written guarantee that it is solely the work of the composer.
2. The work should not have been performed either in concert or service, or recorded commercially or privately.
3. The three pieces adjudged the most successful from all the applicants will be performed at a recital given by the St Paul‟s Cathedral Consort on the evening of 28th October 2019. The competition will be judged by a specially convened panel, with a winner being chosen during the course of evening.
4. The winner will be notified on the evening of the recital performance or, in the case of inability to attend, as soon as possible after the event.
5. The panel reserves the right to withhold the first prize.
6. In all matters relating to the competition the decision of the panel is final.
7. Scores are sent at entrants‟ own risk. We cannot acknowledge receipt of scores nor return any material submitted.
