Emily Mehigh, freelance musician and contemporary clarinetist (www.emilymehigh.com), will be giving a solo clarinet recital in early March of 2019. Emily is a clarinetist who seeks to push the boundaries of clarinet playing by learning new techniques and collaborating with composers. This call is open to composers of any background, age, or nationality, but will prioritize works from composers who are women, transgender, or anyone whose gender doesn't conform to the binary. Composers whose works are selected will receive an audio recording of their work as well as the ability to watch the performance of the recital via livestream. Selected composers are also welcome to contact Emily to discuss their works as the recital process begins in January. Deadline for the submissions will be January 15th, 2019 at 11:59PM CST. Final decisions will be made on or before January 31st, 2019. Submissions: Works must be written for Bb or A clarinet. Bass or Eb clarinet works will not be accepted Works can be written for either solo clarinet or small ensemble (ex: clarinet and piano, small mixed ensembles featuring the clarinet, etc.). Small ensemble works should not exceed 4 parts/players Works that contain fixed or live media are welcomed and encouraged. Media MUST be completed and in the correct format (max patch, audio file, etc.) by the submission deadline One work per composer will be considered Please submit scores in PDF format onto this Google form Works must be no shorter than 3 minutes but no longer than 10 minutes If you have a recording of the work you may also submit that (not required) Works may be composed for the project or pre-existing Late submissions will not be considered If you have any questions please email Emily at emilysue2257@gmail.com. |
