Details: ICEBERG New Music is pleased to announce their inaugural young composer awards. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2019 to deserving pre-collegiate student composers from historically underrepresented backgrounds. The selected composers will also receive free lessons and feedback from ICEBERG member composers, and may be invited to participate in a recorded reading of their work with one of ICEBERG's 2018-19 partner ensembles.

July 5, 2018 - Application Opens

October 15, 2018 - Application Closes

December 31, 2018 - Awardees Announced

January-April 2019 - Awardee Collaborative Period

April 2019 - Awardee Recorded Reading

August/September 2019 - Funds Disbursed

Applicant Eligibility

• Must be 16 or older at application deadline, currently enrolled in high school with intent to enroll at an accredited post-secondary institution after graduation.
• Must be a resident of the New York City metropolitan area.
• Must have experience and/or interest in music composition, songwriting, or other music creation (in any style).
• Preference will be given to applicants who self-identify as being part of an historically underrepresented category of composers in concert music: this includes, but is not limited to, students who identify as female, students who identify as nonwhite, and students who identify as LGBTQ.
• Applicants may not be related to a board member or member composer of ICEBERG New Music.
