Details: As part of their 20th Anniversary Celebration, Rainbow Harmony Project is pleased to present Platinum Pride, a new biennial choral composition competition welcoming unpublished and unperformed works by Canadian composers. Platinum Pride invites Canadian composers to incorporate the lived stories and experiences of the LGBTQ2* community into their compositions, thereby contributing to Canadian LGBTQ2*-specific choral repertoire.

Composition entries will be adjudicated by a panel of professional musicians that includes RHP’s Artistic Director. In addition to receiving individual awards, two finalists will have their works performed and recorded during RHP's 20th season. Please see below for guidelines and eligibility requirements to enter the Platinum Pride competition.

1st Place: The Platinum Pride award of Distinction
• $1000 cash prize
• Transportation and 2 nights’ accomodation in Winnipeg to attend RHP’s spring concert in 2019
• Professional recording and video of composition
• Promotion of the composition through RHP’s network

2nd Place: The Platinum Pride award of Resilience
• $750 cash prize
• Professional recording and video of composition
• Promotion of the composition through RHP’s network

Eligibility
• No age restriction for composers
• Composers must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or landed immigrants
• Composers may submit up to two different compositions
• There is an entry fee of $25 per composition submission

Guidelines for Submission
• Composition should be scored for SATB (primarily 4 part, however some divisi is permitted)
• It may or may not include piano and/or percussion accompaniment
• Composition duration: 4-6 minutes
• The text used for the composition must convey a message that speaks to the lived stories and experiences of the LGBTQ2* community. The text may reflect where they have come from, where they are today and what their vision is for the future.
• Composers must secure rights to any non-public domain texts (verification to be included with submission)
• Composition must not be published or have been previously performed
• Scores must be submitted in a computer engraved format as a PDF file
• Ensure that the composer’s name or other identifiers do not appear on the score
• Submissions must include an mp3 of the score’s midi file
• Without identifying yourself, include a brief program note explaining the inspiration for the composition and text
