Medea Electronique announces an open call for workshops for Electric Nights, a festival of live electronic audiovisual performances. This fifth edition of Electric Nights takes place in Athens, Greece on the 31st March and 1st April 2017. We are looking for workshops exploring various practices within electronic music and visuals, ranging from programming in various textual or visual languages through to circuit design, circuit bending, network interfaces, electronics or anything other topic that is part of today’s new media practices. All workshops will take place on the 1st of April 2017 and should last no longer than seven hours (including appropriate breaks). Please note that from noon onward, sound checks for the Electric Night festival will be taking place in a space below one of the workshop locations (there will be two locations for workshops) , so we prefer to program practical hands-on workshops that are not based on lots of talking from the tutor. What we can offer Medea Electronique can offer bed and board for the two days of the festival (31st of March and 1st of April 2017) in Athens, Greece. We cannot cover travel expenses but we are willing to help artists in their search for funding either by providing an invitation letter or by contacting your Embassy, Consulate, or Institute in Athens. Payment The workshop tutors will be paid according to the attendance of their workshop. Each workshop participant will be charged 30 €, of which 80% will go to the tutor.
