Details: SOLO PIECES FOR THE FLUTE FAMILY

Stefanie Abderhalden, a flutist based in the Chicago area, is seeking solo pieces for an upcoming album that will be commercially released and distributed in both physical and digital formats. Works may be written for piccolo, C-flute, alto flute, or bass flute, and may have been previously performed but they must not be commercially released in either physical (CD) or digital form. A minimum of four submissions (at least one for each of the flute types above) will be selected. The album will also feature Robert Fleisher’s Five Pieces for Flute and Percussion, representing all members of the flute family, including a solo movement for contrabass flute.

Submissions must be received no later than December 1, 2016. Multiple submissions and all styles are welcome. Works not selected may be performed in the future, and the composer(s) will be notified. -Attach PDF of clearly legible (preferably Finale or Sibelius) score. Pieces must be 4-10 minutes in duration.
-If available, attach MP3 audio file (or a link to such file on Google Drive, Dropbox, Soundcloud, or personal website).
-Include 100-word composer bio and 100-word program note in the e-mail message.

Selection Process

There is no fee to submit. Composers will be notified in early January 2017 of their selection status. Composers whose work is selected will be expected to send a signed agreement and $250 USD via PayPal (to defray expenses of recording and distribution) to Stefanie Abderhalden; these must be received no later than February 1, 2017.

Performance and Album Release

Selected works will be performed in the Chicago area during the Spring of 2017.
Recording will take place in the Summer of 2017.
The anticipated album release date will be in the Fall of 2017.
Each selected composer will receive 10 copies of the album on CD.
