Vox Novus is calling for 3-5-minute pieces composed for PUZZLE-GARDE - Cornelia Petroiu, viola to be premiered in February 2017 in Bucharest, Romania. The pieces are to be written specifically for this project, which will be performed by Cornelia Petroiu. The theme of this call is PUZZLE-GARDE: The “puzzle” refers to the materials to be used for writing the pieces. There are several possibilities: 1. Different contrasting musical ideas, apparently from different zones, which, in the end are driven to have a coherent meaning. 2. Very unstable from the melody and rhythm point of view: improvising-like 3. In the same piece, very fast and surprisingly changing music, character, and sonorities. 4. Making a mixture of music from different zone (geographic, cultural, historical, etc…) Ms. Petroiu is looking for fresh and unpredictable music, rapidly changing moods and meanings.
