Binaural / Nodar is a contemporary cultural project operating in the region of Viseu Dão Lafões in the fields of sound art and multimedia creation, audiovisual asset documentation, sound education, creation, radio and publications (online, books, CD, DVD). Binaural / Nodar has hosted more than 150 artists and researchers, produced more than 30 sound works and own media and spread their work in many countries in Europe, America and Asia. Binaural / Nodar is an active member of three European networks dedicated to creativity and territorial development: Network Tramontana of Europe 's rural areas memory files; Network SOCCOS of artistic residencies in sound art; Network SUSPLACE multidisciplinary research in the area of social sustainability processes of local territories. The association is still part of the Cultural Network Viseu Dão Lafões together with Teatro Viriato, ACERT, Cine-Club of Viseu and Teatro do Montemuro.

Viseu Rural 2.0 is an integrated project asset documentation, sound artistic creation and media and cultural diffusion developed in the rural districts of Viseu municipality during 2016. The project is part of an assumption need to give expression and density at all a rural arc involving the city of Viseu and whose memory and structure are also part of the history of the city itself.

After a 1st version of Viseu Rural 2.0 project in 2015, under which were produced 120 audio documents / ethnographic and landscape visuals, created 10 artworks by artists from six countries made five documentary radio and organized a final exhibition retrospective that was patent in the House of Viseu Memos between November 2015 and April 2016, the ongoing project in this year 2016 brings many new features, including one that now announces FARMS SONORA a RURAL FILE - International Competition of Electroacoustic Music and Sound Art .

This international competition is the access by electroacoustic musicians and sound artists from around the world to a set of audio files, a constituent part of Viseu Rural 2.0 file that is being collected and organized by Binaural / Nodar (available at http: // www .viseururalmedia.org / download ), thus creating a sense of exploration and spread beyond the borders of the countryside around Viseu. Thus, various artists located in distant parts of the world, may think and express Viseu and its rural environment through sound research.

Each artist can freely select the file extracts to understand and add other sources and sound processing, with the goal of creating a sound work ten minutes inspired by the rural context of Viseu, which should be submitted (in .wav format to 16 bit ) until 30 September 2016 for consideration by the selection panel, composed by the direction of Binaural / Nodar and associated experts to partners of the European SOCCOS sound art network, which includes, apart from Binaural / Nodar, the QO-2 (Brussels , Belgium), the Disk / CTM (Berlin, Germany) AIR Laboratory (Warsaw, Poland) and Hai-Art (Hailluoto, Finland).

Apart from this sound piece, which will have to have the exact duration of 10 minutes, each artist must include an updated biographical note including contacts (maximum 1,000 characters with spaces), a title for the work, a text on the work ( maximum 2,000 characters with spaces), and finally an image (photography, drawing, collage, etc.) that visually depicts the work, with the size of 30cm x 20cm in quality 300 dpi

All material, audio and visual, the winning works will be exhibited in a retrospective exhibition to take place in Ribeira House in Viseu, from December 2016 (on dates to be announced) and will later be available online on this website.

They will be awarded 20 works, and the following monetary prizes to be awarded:

1st prize: 1,000 Euros
2nd prize: 600 euros
3rd prize: 400 euros
4 to 10 prize: 200 Euros
11th to 20th prize: 100 Euros

Total prizes to be awarded: 4,400 Euros.

The first two winners will be invited to attend the opening of the exhibition to personally receive their prizes.
