Sound Transitions Festival

 Sound Transitions Festival
Summary:Call for Works
Deadline: 20 February 2016
Date Posted: 10 February 2016
Details: The Sound Transitions festival, as part of the 4th edition of the Paris 8 University's Semaine des arts (March 21-25, 2015), proposes a practical and theoretical reflection on topics such as sound ecology, listening and degrowth on the arts. It raises questions about the engagement of the artist in the sound environment and in the present economical, political and social context.

With the goal of promoting the creation and dissemination of new music devoted to the above-mentioned themes, the organizing team of the Sound Transitions festival has launched a call for musical works. The works must be in digital format (without any live acoustic, electronic or digital instruments), in stereo, but can be spatialized. The selected pieces will be performed as part of a concert at the amphiX (projected with the acousmonium by the musical company Motus) or during listening sessions.

The selection of the works will be made considering the following criteria: artistic quality and relationship to the festival themes. The main themes are: sound ecology, soundscapes composition, field recording, music and nature...; degrowth; focus on listening...
