 Ossia International Composition Prize
Summary:International Chamber Ensemble Competition
Deadline: 11 December 2015
Date Posted: 18 November 2015
Details: We are pleased to announce a call for scores for our 2015-2016 International Composition Prize. One grand prize will be awarded, and the winning composition will be performed on the final concert of the 2015-2016 season, on April 9th, 2016. The winning composer will receive a cash award of $500 USD and a stipend of up to $1,000 to defray travel expenses (transportation and a stipend for food; housing will be provided).

Composers of all nationalities under the age of 35 are encouraged to apply. There is no entry fee, and works may have been previously performed. Current Eastman students and alumni who graduated after 2005 are not eligible to participate.

The OSSIA board will evaluate all submissions and select the winning entry. All applications must be complete and received by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, December 11th, 2015, Eastern Standard Time. Please note this year's earlier deadline. The winning entry will be announced by Friday, January 22nd, 2015. We hope that the selected composer will be able to attend the April concert, but in the event the composer is unable, s/he is expected to contribute to rehearsals via Skype or other correspondence.

Please check out the links below for the submission process, rules and guidelines, frequently asked questions, and entry form. For any additional questions, please email info@ossianewmusic.org.

The submission process is entirely digital. Please follow the directions below to ensure that your application is successfully received.

• Prepare an anonymous score and recording of your work. All indications of the composer’s identity, affiliation, or performing ensemble should be removed. Double check the file name, document information, and all pages of the score. This includes previous performance information and dedication. Several questions later in the application will solicit program notes, commissioning information, or performance history, but these will only be consulted by a third-party in later rounds of the competition.
• Upload your anonymous score and recording to Dropbox or a similar file sharing service. See www.dropbox.com.
• Fill out the application form below under the Entry Form link. For the Score Link and Recording Link portion of the application, please paste the Dropbox URL link to the appropriate file. Do NOT copy and paste the link from your dropbox homepage; instead, you must go to “share” and provide a link to the file.

• Please note the earlier deadline than in previous years.
• The submitted PDF score and MP3 recording must be anonymous. All indications of the composer’s identity, affiliation, or performing ensemble should be removed from file and file names.
