Aimed at talented composers and creative artists at an early stage in their career, Embedded is a bespoke programme, providing practical hands-on experience and a range of significant creative opportunities. So far over forty composers have benefited from Embedded, and there is overwhelming evidence that it can be a transformational experience in terms of talent development, artistic ambition, professional experience and growing networks. For more information about previous partners and composers involved, please see here.

Building on the success of previous international residencies with Elektromusikstudion (EMS) Stockholm, and more recently with the Montreal-based Bozzini Quartet, we’re excited to offer a special international opportunity to for two UK composers to join two Mexican peers in participating in a residency and exchange programme during the 2015-16 season.

With partners Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras (CMMAS) and the University of Huddersfield’s Music Department/Sound.Music.Image research centre, the residency is part of the Mexico/UK Dual Year supported in Mexico by CONACULTA-CENART.

During this project the composers will have the opportunity to spend time working intensively in the studios of CMMAS in Morelia, Mexico and in Huddersfield, developing their artistic and professional skills through creating one or more new works which will be presented in public performances in Mexico and the UK.

The opportunity is focused on artistic development, and the successful applicants will be encouraged to explore their ideas and creative practice, supported by the mentoring of Monty Adkins, Julio d’Escrivan and Rodrigo Sigal.
