MATA, the New York City-based young composer advocacy and presenting organization, is accepting proposals for the 2015-16 season of our intermittent concert series INTERVAL. This call for Interval is how we seek out concerts that are not a part of our Festival. If you have an idea for a concert, we want to hear about it and we want to work with you to present it. The mission for the Interval series is to present innovative work by young and emerging composers and performers and ensembles. Selected participants will be asked to: -Program – in conjunction with MATA’s directors – a concert of works by emerging composers for MATA’s Interval series -Create a comprehensive budget -Coordinate schedules and other logistics with the venue, participating composers, performing artists, and technical staff -Coordinate and create various public relations activities, including writing press release copy, blog posts, collecting media content from artists and so forth. Technical assistance will be provided when necessary, and MATA’s Directors are available throughout the process. While Interval is focused on pre-existing works that deserve to be heard, we encourage the presentation of new works. We anticipate and encourage many different responses to this call; we want to hear from you what a concert on the Interval series would mean. Among those responses, we anticipate: -Ensembles / Performers interested in performing on a MATA Interval Program -Proposals of concerts of music by emerging composers by Curators and Ensembles in collaboration -Larger-scale projects initiated by a composer in collaboration with an ensemble -Larger-scale projects initiated by a composer |
