International course in composition and electronic music SoundMine is an international composition course with intensive coaching by top-level coaches who are composers themselves. Young people and adults with a passion for composing and creating will spend five days pushing back the boundaries of their own musical imagination. They will work intensively for a whole week towards a presentation during which the works created or in progress will be shown and performed. The course is aimed at artists who are just starting out and young professionals from Belgium and abroad who will benefit from the extra encouragement this course provides. They will be selected on the basis of their motivation, age, scores, sound recordings and development potential. Established names Wim Henderickx and Diederik Glorieux will lead the sixteenth edition of the composition course. Composer and sound artist Jorrit Tamminga, who was also in attendance last year, will once again immerse the composers in the world of electronic music. During the composition course, the participants will have the chance to compose music in the most diverse range of styles. A special feature of this composition master class is the challenging confrontations between acoustic instruments and technology, improvisation and notation. This year we will pay special attention to the combination of music, media and new technologies. Furthermore, the participants will have the opportunity to compose a piece that will later be performed by the renowned Logos Robot Orchestra. |
