Details: The Texas A&M University Composition Competition and Symposium announces a call for scores to composers born after December 31, 1990 who reside in the United States. Composers are invited to submit new works for string quartet of approximately 7–12 minutes in duration. The winning composer will receive a $500 honorarium, a performance by the Apollo Chamber Players and travel expenses to attend the performance and symposium in College Station, Texas. The winning composer will be required to attend the symposium and give brief talk on his or her music.

Rules for Submission
There is no entry fee. Each composer may submit one score. Anonymous submission is not necessary. An electronic version of the score is required and a recording is strongly encouraged. Both must be submitted through the following website: http://composition.tamu.edu

The submitted work(s) may have been previously performed but may not have won any previous competition.
Score format should be PDF.
Recording format should be MP3.
MIDI realizations are acceptable.

Timeline
August 15, 2015 by 11:59 P.M. CDT (UTC -5:00): Deadline for submissions
November 1, 2015: Notification of winner
December 1, 2015: Winner’s score and parts must delivered in hard copy to the Texas A&M University Department of Performance Studies
January 26–28, 2016: Symposium at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX

Judges
The preliminary judging panel will include Texas A&M University faculty composers and guest composer John Mackey. The Apollo Chamber Players will select the winning composition.
