Details: The prize is organised by the Bangor Music Festival, which is committed to encouraging composers and to the promotion of new music.

Composition details:
The prize will be offered for a work for flute, clarinet and piano (in any combination) with electronics. It should last between 4 and 8 minutes; there are no restrictions in terms of style.

Instruments:
Alto Flute doubling flute in C (optionally entries could use the Kingma System for both - full information at www.altoflute.co.uk)
Clarinet may be A or Bb, and may also use bass clarinet
Piano may also use toy piano

Electronics:
• should be software-based and capable of running on a single Apple Mac computer;
• may be soundfile playback, live processing, or a combination of both;
• may be up to 8 output channels (8 loudspeakers);
• microphones may be used for the instruments, up to a maximum of five. Available mics: 1x DPA 4061, 2x AKG 414, 4x Schoeps MK4;
• a Behringer BCF2000 MIDI controller and two MIDI foot pedals are also provided;
• all software must be provided by the composer and be capable of running on Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or higher;
• All software libraries and other dependencies must be provided by the composer;
• All software must be submitted along with the score of the piece, either on CD/DVD or via a web link;
• full instructions for installation and use of the software must be provided.

Selected works will be performed by Carla Rees, Heather Roche, Xenia Pestova and Electroacoustic WALES during a workshop between 12.00 – 14.00 on Sunday, 8th March 2015 at Powis Hall, Bangor University as part of the Festival. Selected composers are required to be present and to participate in the workshop. One prize-winning piece will then be selected for the evening concert on the same day. The announcement of the result and the presentation will take place during the evening concert.

The prize consists of the following:
- a cheque for £500
- a professional performance by Rees/Roche/Pestova during the Bangor Music Festival
- a recording of the work (for personal use only)
- a commission for the Bangor Music Festival in 2016 (worth up to £1,000)

Submission procedures:
Only the title of the piece (and not the composer's name) should appear on the score. Any entries with a name on the score will be automatically disqualified. Two printed and bound copies of the score and a set of parts should be provided. Also an electronic copy should be sent to: manager@bangormusicfestival.org.uk


A sealed envelope giving the following information shall accompany each composition:

Inside - the title of the piece, the composer's full name, address, email address and telephone number.
Outside - the title of the piece only.
