Call For Scores FAQ

+ I don't have a piece for your instrumentation, but I have a great piece for (insert instrument that is in the group here). Can I send it to you to perform?

No. Deviant Septet performs only works for septet, not smaller subsets, although pieces containing portions or movements where one or more members do not play are acceptable.

+ What is the closing date of your call?

Deviant Septet's Call For Scores is open continuously. Our mission is to build a repertoire for our ensemble, so we are always on the lookout for new pieces to play.

+ I don't have a whole piece ready to go. Are fragments or sketches acceptable?

Yes. Try to give us a good idea of what the piece will be like and accompany your sketches or fragments with something that tells us the direction it will go. A sample that just contains a violin solo doesn't tell us as much about the potential piece as something with a fuller ensemble texture.

+ I submitted my piece, when are you going to play it?

The submission review process does take some time. Rest assured, we will be in touch with you, but unfortunately, not every piece that is submitted can be programmed.
