All works will be PLAYED and judged by the BCMW coaching staff.

Winners’ works will be performed during the July 2015 Brass Chamber Music Workshop (BCMW) in Arcata, California. Amateur musicians will perform the music in a workshop format. Qualifying submissions will be added to the workshop Library.

COMPOSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
Composition should be an original, previously unpublished, work for brass octet (3131) - 3 trumpets (cornets, flugelhorns), horn (in F), 3 trombones (bass clef), and tuba. You may use bass trombone and/or euphonium in place of one or more trombones. The composition should be a multi-movement work, 10-12 minutes in length. Composer’s original material written for another complement and adapted for brass octet is acceptable. You may write for trumpets in other keys (C, E-flat, piccolo), but please include Bb parts; supply trombone parts in bass clef.

Please include hard copies of a complete score, a completed set of parts, a CD with a pdf of score and parts, and a recording. Please include a score in Sibelius or Finale format for ease of playback. Please put all files on one disk, if possible. Tips for successful submissions may be found here.

Submission deadline is February 1, 2015. Entries received after February 1 will not be considered. Winning submissions will be notified by May 15, 2015.
