Pierrot Kabaret

 Pierrot Kabaret
Summary:Works inspired by Brettl-Lieder
Deadline: 24 October 2014
Date Posted: 18 September 2014
Details: The Dr K Sextet are inviting composers of any age or nationality to set any one of the poems used in Schönberg’s Brettl-Lieder for a Pierrot-plus line-up: soprano, flutes, clarinets, percussion, piano, violin and cello, with the additional option of pre-recorded electronics. We are looking for innovative and adventurous settings that will haul the raucous and irreverent German Kabarett into the 21st Century. For more information look at the Rules & Regs page linked below.

To apply composers must submit by email two scores of their previous works in PDF format, with links to easily accessed recordings, and submit an application form including a short proposal outlining how they will approach the setting of their chosen poem.

In early November the selected composers will then be asked to complete their proposed settings. These songs will be premièred as part of a Kabarett themed performance at Club Inégales alongside the first part of Schönberg's Pierrot Lunaire, in the first of the Pierrot Pop-Ups concert series on January 22nd 2015. It is hoped that the songs will be presented at least once more during 2015 in an exhibition of new visual art.

The deadline for applications is 5PM on Friday October 24th 2014.
