Vox Novus is calling for one-minute pieces composed for Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame: Austin Mandolin Orchestra to be premiered March 2015 in Austin Texas for the Composer’s Voice concert Series and a second performance in the October 2015 at the convention of the Classical Mandolin Society of America. Instrumentation: Mandolin I, Mandolin II, Mandola (tuned, like viola, CGDA) Mandocello (tuned, like cello, CGDA), Classical Guitar, Double Bass. There will be two or more performers on each part, except guitar and bass. Score and parts required: Please include a conductor's score and individual parts. For Mandola, please format the part in octave treble clef (rather than alto clef). Theme: Our theme for this call is the wildflowers of Texas. From AngelTrumpets to Zephyrlilies, Texas offers diverse habitats to a kaleidoscopic assortment of flora. As our landscape reawakens, we will celebrate the promise of spring with vibrant new music. If special techniques are required, please describe your expectations fully. As the AMO offers opportunities for players of all skill levels, successful pieces will be written from easy to moderate difficultly. Submission guidelines: -Submission Deadline September 26, 2014 -All works must be 60 seconds or less in length -This call is open to all composers. -There is no fee to submit. -Works should be composed specifically for this project and performers. -All pieces must be premieres and not previously written or performed. -No works over a minute will be reviewed. -Multiple submissions are not accepted.
